Some rain chances for Labor Day weekend

This Labor Day weekend overall looks pretty good, with just a few chances for rain and maybe a storm as we usher into Sunday. For your Saturday, there will be more clouds than sun, especially for anyone outside of the Cape. We are expected to stay mostly dry; at the very most a stray sprinkle. The biggest difference will be the warmth and humidity. Highs will reach the upper 70s and low 80s, with dew points jumping back into the 60s. Sunday is the worst day out of the 3-day weekend. Highs will be very warm in the low 80s, but with oppressive levels of humidity that’ll feel more like the mid to upper 80s. We’ve got a couple rounds of rain ahead. The most widespread round will come early in the morning. After that, we’ll have a lull before chances for isolated showers, and maybe even an isolated stronger storm, pop back up in the late afternoon and early evening. Then, Labor Day really kicks off the unofficial end of summer with fall-like temperatures. Not only will highs cool

Boston College community mourning loss of two of their own

The Boston College hockey community is mourning the loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, brothers who both played for the Eagles. Coach Greg Brown and retired Coach Jerry York discussed the tragic deaths on Friday. “It’s hard to put into words,” Brown said. “The entire Gaudreau family is so close, they’re so tight. There are so many people here who were affected by them.” “It was shocking news to us,” York said. “It’s such a hard reality when you wake up in the morning and hear that.” York said a big of the reason Johnny’s success was the result of the pushing and support of his younger brother. “They had a great bond between them,” York said. “It was a fun dynamic to watch.” Johnny played three seasons for B.C. from 2011 to 2014, including as part of the school’s 2012 National Championship team. In 2014 he was awarded the Hobey Baker award, presented to the top player in men’s college hockey each year. Matthew played in 120 games over his four years, winning the Beanpot with hi

Summer’s Back Tomorrow

Today was nice but summer is back in full force Wednesday. Temperatures will soar to the upper 80s but will feel like the lower 90s with the humidity back. There’s also the risk of a few storms, but they’ll stay isolated and much of the day will be a dry, hot summer day. The humidity will be borderline tropical, but it’s only for a day. The shower and storm chances will come in two waves tomorrow and the second wave is a cold front that will wipe out the heat and humidity about as fast as it came in. Behind it is cooler and drier air to close out the week. In fact, Thursday and Friday look like absolutely gorgeous days, though they’ll feel like early fall. The first wave of showers will be tomorrow morning and they’ll be a few isolated to scattered showers. Those come in on the warm front that brings the warm air and humidity. We’re dry for much of the day before a second wave comes in during the late afternoon and evening. Those could be a few storms — but still just isolated and
