A Boston man was charged with exposing himself and committing lewd acts in front of two 16-year-old girls walking back to their East Boston school after lunch, according to Suffolk County DA Kevin Hayden.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 5, Boston Police responded to an East Boston school, where the girls told officers they were walking back to school after lunch when they saw a man expose his penis. They then saw him insert his penis into the opening of a pipe. The girls quickly walked away, but the man followed them with his penis still exposed. The girls were able to take a cell phone photo of the man.
Detectives were able to use the image and description the students provided to find Hamid Elalami, 37, and issued a warrant for his arrest.
“These two girls deserve enormous credit for providing the information that helped police identify and arrest this suspect,” Hayden said.. “It’s unfortunate that they had to witness such things, but the responsible actions they took provide an excellent example of community members and law enforcement working together to address crime in our neighborhoods.”
Elalami was arraigned on Oct. 21 in East Boston MBC on one count of open and gross lewdness and one count of indecent exposure. A judge ordered him to report to probation twice a week, follow any prescribed medication and treatment and submit to a mental health evaluation.
