Police: Postal worker helps save assault victim in Connecticut

A mail carrier in Connecticut came to the rescue of a woman being assaulted by her boyfriend, according to police.

Christine Cambizaca was working her route in Torrington, Conn. on Tuesday when she says a woman ran up to her, saying her boyfriend was beating her up. Cambizaca quickly welcomed the woman into the delivery truck, locked the doors and called 911.

“If she didn’t seek help, it could’ve been worse, and who knows what would’ve happened,” says Cambizaca. “I felt I did the right thing because it could’ve been anyone’s sister, it could’ve been anyone’s daughter.”

The victim’s boyfriend allegedly showed up to the delivery vehicle, carrying a knife.

Torrington Police arrived and arrested the 20-year-old suspect, who now faces assault and strangulation charges.

The home is Habitat for Humanity’s first 3D-printed home in the nation, according to a Habitat news release. Janet V. CANTON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio high school football player who says coaches forced him to eat a pizza covered with pepperoni grease in violation of his religious beliefs is suing his former district and the ousted coaches. The former Canton McKinley High School athlete and his parents filed a federal civil rights suit this week seeking millions of dollars in damages and alleging violations of his religious freedom and constitutional rights. The athlete says in the lawsuit that coaches were notified he doesn’t eat pork or pork residue as a member of the Hebrew Israelite religious faith, but that they ordered him to eat the pizza as punishment for missing an offseason workout — and indicated his spot on the team was at risk if he didn’t.
