BALTIMORE ( WJZ ) — Production on an upcoming TV series starring Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong’o was halted late last week after a group in Baltimore threatened the production crew, according to authorities. “Lady in the Lake” was filming in Baltimore when a group of people threatened to shoot a member of the crew, police said. A Baltimore Police Department spokesperson confirmed to CBS Baltimore that “locals threatened the producers of the movie that if they didn’t cease production, they would come back later . . . and shoot someone.” “The locals then told the producers that if they paid them, they would allow the production to continue,” the spokesperson said. “The leaders of the production decided to err on the side of caution and reschedule the shoot after they found another location,” the spokesperson told CBS Baltimore. The suit claims it was a breach of contract for Emerson College to charge full price for the spring of 2020 semester once classes were moved online. A Mickey Mantle baseball card from 1952 sold for a jaw-dropping $12,600,000 early Sunday morning, according to a news release from Heritage Auctions shared with CNN. A rehab center in Rhode Island is using a new high tech treatment to help patients recover. Virtual reality is being used at the Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center to help patients get back their mobility and motor skills. The Gait Better uses a treadmill, VR headset and sensors to simulate obstacles that one faces when walking, to help fall victims recover. “All that dual tasking is really good for brain recovery and falls,” physical therapist Jenny Volpe said. Dr. Mustapha Kemal, medical director of the Vanderbilt Rehab Center, said that the VR headset helped a recent fall patient working to get their mobility back, without the need to go to another facility. “Not only does it help the patient progress, but progress quicker,” Dr. Kemal said. A mail carrier in Connecticut came to the rescue of a woman being assaulted by her boyfriend, according to police. Christine Cambizaca was working her route in Torrington, Conn. on Tuesday when she says a woman ran up to her, saying her boyfriend was beating her up. Cambizaca quickly welcomed the woman into the delivery truck, locked the doors and called 911. “If she didn’t seek help, it could’ve been worse, and who knows what would’ve happened,” says Cambizaca. “I felt I did the right thing because it could’ve been anyone’s sister, it could’ve been anyone’s daughter.” The victim’s boyfriend allegedly showed up to the delivery vehicle, carrying a knife. (CNN) — Workers at a Chipotle Mexican Grill in Lansing, Michigan, voted to unionize Thursday, becoming the first of the fast-casual chain’s 3,000 locations to organize. The workers at the Lansing Chipotle voted to form a union with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont sheriff’s office captain and candidate for sheriff has been fired after a video showed him kicking a handcuffed and shackled detainee in the groin. Franklin County Sheriff Roger Langevin on Thursday called Capt. John Grismore’s actions “egregious” in a statement. According to a video of the incident released by the sheriff’s, a man who’s handcuffed and shackled refused to stay seated on a bench while being detained at the sheriff’s office. Grismore, dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, kicked the man in the groin and then kicked him a second time when the man stood up again. Grismore was initially placed on administrative leave and state police are investigating, the sheriff’s office said. Langevin, who said he was notified of Grismore’s actions by deputies, referred the case to the Franklin County State’s Attorney’s Office, which requested the state police review. DEWITT, N.Y. (WHDH) – A man and woman from Leominster have been arrested in New York in connection with the assault and rape of a victim near Syracuse, according to officials. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office announced Dustin Wilson, 27, and Tasheana Flannery, 30, have been brought up on numerous charges after the alleged victim escaped the hotel room she was trapped in and alerted authorities. According to a press release, it was Tuesday morning on Aug. 23 when police were called to a hotel in the town of DeWitt. Officers responding to the Red Roof Inn soon found the victim, who told police how, after she encountered a couple at the hotel, she was held against her will, beaten and raped by the two suspects, all while in the presence of two children in their hotel room. Police learned the victim was eventually able to escape and alerted a hotel clerk, who then called 911. Both suspects were then found in the room where the alleged assault occurred and were arrested. The Thursday filing from attorneys for the families was made as part of a Texas bankruptcy case for Free Speech Systems. Gabriella Mendez, 32, was emotional in court, where she denied charges including motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation. Police said Mendez was driving when she hit Alan Martel in East Boston and drove off. Officers said she didn’t have her headlights on and was on her phone at the time of the crash. Martel later died of his injuries at Mass General Hospital. “He was just a good guy, just kept to himself, worked, did his job,” said his coworker Gerald Sorro. “Just unfortunate what happened to him.” Mendez was released on a $500 bail, and is due back in court in October. Governor Charlie Baker announced Thursday morning the state will invest nearly $40 million into programs to ensure statewide school safety ahead of the new school year. The money will go into various school safety programs including additional police active shooter training, a statewide awareness campaign and a tip line. “Highlights of this proposal include matching grants for security, communication upgrades in K-12 schools and public higher education institutions,” said Baker.
