Officers responding to a report of a breaking and entering in progress at a home on Apache Way around 1:50 p.m. spoke with the homeowner who said that about 20 minutes before they called police, they were awoken by a man standing inside their bedroom, according to the department. The homeowner told police they asked the suspect, “Who are you?” He responded, “Sorry, cleaning company,” and abruptly left the residence. It was later discovered that an amount of cash had been taken from the home. The suspect is described as tall and was wearing a pink shirt and mask at the time. A Vermont skydiver who lost his prosthetic leg during a jump has it back, thanks to a farmer who kept an eye out for it and spotted it in a soybean field. Double amputee Chris Marckres jumped out of a plane in Vermont with two prosthetic legs Saturday and much to his surprise, landed with only one. “I never knew I lost a leg until about 20 seconds before we were supposed to land,” he said. “It was just so overwhelming, losing my prosthetic was about the last thing on my mind.” After he landed, he and the skydiving crew searched the area but could not find it. Marckres put out a desperate plea on social media and farmer Joe Marszalkowski answered. “I went out to the field to fly the drone around to look for it and didn’t find it with the drone and walked around on foot for several hours and it was getting dark, was walking back to my truck and that’s when I spotted the limb,” Marszalkowski explained. The first reports of the blaze reached firefighters around 7:45 p.m. and the massive firefight continued well into the night with smoke and flames raging out of the roof. That roof is now completely gone. Witnesses said the fire first ignited near the top floor of the building and quickly spread along the roofline then throughout the rest of the building. More than 100 people are left without homes and at least four people have been rushed to nearby hospitals. There is no word on their condition. So far, it is unclear what started the fire. National Grid was called to a scene on Heart Street when a massive tree came crashing down on some powerlines plunging neighbors into the darkness. The branches narrowly missed a house. He said he is not sure to what extent those things have been damaged. Thankfully, no one was hurt. As of 9 p.m., more than 600 Lynn residents were without power. On Boston Street, heavy rains overwhelmed the roadway leaving drivers and pedestrians in some dangerous conditions. The water later receded. SAN DIEGO — San Diego County public health officials reported Thursday 381 new cases of COVID-19 cases and six more deaths. The county reported 8,238 diagnostic tests Thursday, 5% of which returned positive. The 14-day rolling average of positive tests now is 5.6%. Five new community setting outbreaks were reported by the county Thursday after reporting six such outbreaks Wednesday. All were recorded in restaurant or bar settings. In the past seven days, the county has tallied 28 community setting outbreaks, four times its stated trigger number of seven outbreaks in seven days. LOS ANGELES (NEXSTAR) — Actress Naya Rivera will be featured Friday in what’s believed to be her final television appearance. Rivera will appear in an episode of Netflix’s baking competition Sugar Rush, according to Deadline . The Glee star will serve as a guest judge on the Los Angeles-based production alongside host Hunter March and judges Candace Nelson and Adriano Zumbo. According to Deadline, this was the last show Rivera shot before production was shutdown in Hollywood due to COVID-19. Rivera died after she went missing in a Los Angeles-area lake earlier this month. Her body was recovered July 13. According to Deadline, Netflix spoke with Rivera’s longtime manager Gladys Gonzalez about whether or not to release the program as planned. A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man outside a Revere ice cream shop Sunday night. Yaseen Butt was found suffering from a gunshot wound outside Twist and Shake on Revere Beach Boulevard around 10:10 p.m. July 26, according to state police. Felix Martinez was charged with murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of armed robbery over the phone with Chelsea District Court Thursday after investigators say they found security footage of him and other members of the group fleeing into a nearby MBTA station. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said Martinez and a group of others stole two backpacks, one of which was valued at about $800, from Butt and another person near Garfield Avenue. Following the robbery, the victims gathered a group of companions and set out to find Martinez in an attempt to retrieve the backpacks.  They located Martinez

Now, he and the police are turning to the public for help identifying a man believed to be behind the wheel that night. Shawn Colier, 43, was peddling home from his dishwashing job at Doyle’s Restaurant on Oak Street in Brockton around 10:40 p.m. when he was hit from behind by a dark-colored minivan that was driving without its headlights on, according to the Brockton Police Department. Police say the driver fled east on Oak Street following the crash. Hours later, Colier regained consciousness at Good Samaritan Hospital. He had suffered broken ribs and countless scrapes and bruises. “Knocked out completely. I don’t even know who took me to the hospital,” he told 7NEWS.
