Michael Nutbrown, 60, of Somerset, has been arrested on an attempted kidnapping charge and is expected to be arraigned Monday in Fall River District Court. Officers responding to a reported attempted kidnapping around 2:45 p.m. learned a man in a four-door dark blue sedan had just tried to lure two 13-year-old girls into his car behind a local store. Store security cameras captured the girls running toward the store. Minutes earlier, security cameras showed Nutbrown exit the vehicle,

Rain ends, breezy but dry this weekend

This content collected from Boston News, Weather, Sports | WHDH 7News. Rain clears tonight, and the clouds do too. That’ll allow temperatures to dip overnight into Saturday morning, way down into the mid to upper 30s. Keep in mind while tomorrow will look nice, it will be breezy. Gusts will reach 25-30 mph, and it’ll be windier near the coast. Skies will be bright and highs will be mild in the low 50s. Enjoy the day. Overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning, when most will be sleeping, there could be isolated sprinkles or flurries. However, nothing will stick. Lows Saturday night will be in the mid to upper 30s. Sunday will stay dry as well. It won’t be as windy, although there will be a mixture of sun and clouds. Highs will still be comfortable in the low 50s. Even heading into Monday we stay dry. However, we need to talk about middle to late next week. We’ve got our next potential storm system, and it’s not looking like we’re done with the wintry weather just yet. It’s s

Salisbury Beach residents looking for permanent solution to beachfront erosion

Sand was brought in to protect homes from erosion on Salisbury Beach recently, but it has since washed away to other parts of the beach – and homeowners say they’re looking for a permanent solution. Congressman Seth Moulton visited the beach to get a firsthand look at the erosion problem, which chipped away at sensitive dunes and endangered private property. But it’s a state beach, so federal dollars may not be flowing in anytime soon. Two miles of the beach have seen significant damage to the dunes, where residents pooled resources and spent some $600,000. Initial reports said it was washed away, but that assessment is changing. “Even though we got hammered, those dunes protected all the properties,” said Tom Saab of Salisbury Beach Citizens for Change. “Not one property was damaged.” An environmental expert hired by the town says drone images show the sand trucked in by homeowners is still on that beach – the ocean didn’t wash away the sand, it shifted it. Steward Health Care strikes deal to sell its nationwide physician network to Optum

BOSTON (AP) — Financially embattled hospital operator Steward Health Care has struck a deal to sell its nationwide physician network to Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, as it works to stabilize its finances. The move comes as Gov. Maura Healey has said state monitors are keeping eye on the nine health care facilities operated by Steward Health Care in Massachusetts, including hospitals in some of the state’s poorer communities. The Dallas-based company operates more than 30 hospitals nationwide. Before the sale can be completed, the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission must review the proposal. The commission doesn’t have the authority to block a transaction but can refer findings to the state Attorney General’s office, the Department of Public Health, or other Massachusetts agencies for possible further action. The documents filed with the state did not include a cost for the transaction. Under the deal, Optum would aquire a Steward affiliate that includes the company
