Shoebert the seal has made his return to the ocean. The seal drew crowds of fans when he took up residence in Shoe Pond in Beverly earlier this month. Shoebert was released back into the waters off Block Island by the Mystic Aquarium Rescue Clinic Tuesday. Shoebert’s stay in Shoe Pond ended when he was transported to the Mystic Aquarium. Rescuers from Beverly Animal Control, the fire department and marine animal experts struggled to corral him for several days before Shoebert waddled to the Beverly Police Station last week and “turned himself in.” Once he was there, experts were able to crate him without too much effort. A mural next to Shoe Pond in Beverly is being planned to commemorate Shoebert’s stay. Roy Booth, 40, has been charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and mayhem, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office press release. As 7NEWS previously reported , the Department of Corrections said the inmate hit the officer multiple times with a 10 lb. pull-down bar in the weight room of the prison gym and knocked the officer unconscious. Tidman’s fellow corrections officers restrained Booth after the attack and provided aid to Officer Tidman, who was transported by Medical Flight to Lahey Hospital in Burlington. Georgetown firefighters reunited with a family over the weekend after aiding in the delivery of their newborn earlier this month. Around 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4, the Georgetown Fire Department received a 911 call for a woman in active labor at her home who needed immediate assistance. Baby Olivia was born just minutes after firefighters arrived, with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. The mother, Alyssa, and her baby were taken to a hospital for evaluation after delivery and were healthy. Alyssa thanked Georgetown Fire Capt. Bret Moyer and firefighters Ron Agrella, Mike McManus, Celia Xie and Nick Rio, who responded to the call. When they arrived, the victim said he got into a verbal argument with an unknown man that turned physical. HAVANA (AP) — Hurricane Ian was growing stronger as it approached the western tip of Cuba on Monday, on a track to hit the west coast of Florida as  a major hurricane  as early as Wednesday. Ian was forecast to hit Cuba as a major hurricane and then become an even stronger Category 4 with top winds of 140 miles (225 kilometers) over warm Gulf of Mexico waters before striking Florida along a stretch of coast including the Tampa Bay area. “Please treat this storm seriously.
