A man was hospitalized with serious burns following a house fire in Norton on Sunday morning. Fire crews responding to a 1-alarm blaze at a single-family home on North Washington Street found heavy smoke on all floors of the house, according to Norton fire officials. Firefighters located the source of the fire in the basement, where they also found a 19-year-old man who suffered a serious leg burn, fire official said. They pulled the teenager out of the home and provided initial treatment. The teenager was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton for further treatment. Crews extinguished the fire in approximately 10 minutes, according to Norton fire officials. An investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing. A driver was rescued by state police after the tractor-trailer they were operating plunged into the Charles River in Weston on Saturday, officials said. State police and Weston firefighters responding to a report of a tractor-trailer into the water near the ramp from I-95 to the Massachusetts Turnpike just before 12 p.m. found the driver standing on top of the truck, according to state police. The driver, who cannot swim, was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for evaluation, state police said. A preliminary investigation determined the tractor-trailer, which had been carrying U.S. mail, veered off the road and went down a long embankment into the Charles River. U.S. Postal inspectors have been notified, according to state police. Drivers are asked to avoid the area of 128N near Route 30 and I-90 to 128N while crews investigate and work to clear the scene. A Cape Cod man was arrested after police say he accidentally shot a woman in the chest late Thursday night. William Niemeyer, 58, of Falmouth, is facing charges of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possessing a large capacity firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, according to the Falmouth Police Department. Officers responding to a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm at a home on Shore Street around 10:40 p.m. found a 54-year-old Middleboro woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest, police said. The woman was taken to a Boston hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. There was no immediate word on her condition. Niemeyer was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting. The snow and cold weren’t enough to deter a motorist from cruising down Route 2 with their convertible’s top down on Friday morning. Trent Spinney captured video of the bizarre sight as he drove along the eastbound side of the highway in Templeton around 8 a.m. The video showed the convertible sliding and swerving in the snow as the motorist drove in the left travel lane. Up to a foot of snow was expected to fall in that area. South Yorkshire police told CNN that props used in film and television production were reported stolen from three vehicles on Feb. 16. “The items stolen are not necessarily in the best condition and therefore of limited value for resale. However, they are valuable as pieces to the UK film industry,” Alison Harvey, series set decorator for “The Crown” Season 5 told  Antiques Trade Gazette . (AP) — More than 80 rescued Florida manatees are in rehabilitation centers across the U.S. as wildlife officials try to stem starvation deaths by the marine mammals because of poor water quality. The latest numbers were released Wednesday by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of an unprecedented effort to feed starving manatees and treat those in distress. The state has provided about $1.2 million for the treatment effort, officials said, with the rest of the increasing costs borne by facilities such as the SeaWorld  rescue program in Orlando . Officials say an amateur hockey player punched a referee during a game in Foxboro over the weekend — those who witnessed the alleged attack say it went too far. “Everyone was kinda in shock,” said Jordan Bax who plays for the opposing team. “Like our bench is all looking at each other like, ‘What just happened?’” Bax’s team was playing at the Foxboro Sports Center Sunday when a member of the opposing team, whose name has not been released, lost his cool. “There was just a hit and he kinda shoved the ref and the ref tossed him out of the game and he thought he needed to go punch him,” Bax explained. Police say they are now investigating and will decide if any criminal charges should be filed. “It all happened really quick,” spectator Frank Jurgens recalled. “The player just snapped and punched him in the face as hard as he could and knocked him over.” The player was part of The Premier League which is made up

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) — Hank the Tank strikes again. The 500-pound black bear has damaged more than 30 properties around Lake Tahoe, and last week broke into yet another home in an endless quest for a quick meal. Known by residents as Hank the Tank, the giant bear has eluded capture for more than seven months, according to Peter Tira, a spokesman for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. “What’s problematic about this bear is how large it is,” Tira told  SF Gate  on Sunday. “It’s learned to use that size and strength to break into a number of occupied residences, bursting through the garage door or front door. It’s pretty frightening.” The bear is responsible for more than 150 incident reports in the region straddling Northern California and Nevada. A Friday break-in at a residence in the Tahoe Keys neighborhood is the latest, according to  CBS Sacramento . A Worcester man was placed under arrest after he allegedly broke into the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and tried gaining access to the tiger enclosure on Monday morning. Matthew Abraham, 24, broke into the zoo by climbing over a gate around 9 a.m., according to state police. “I didn’t break in, I was let in,” Abraham told 7NEWS at his home later in the day. A preliminary investigation indicates that he scaled multiple fences in his attempt to get to the tigers, ignoring multiple posted signs advising the public to stay out of that area. When asked why he did it, troopers said Abraham responded that he had an interest in the animals. “I thought that since there was a fence, I wasn’t encroaching on his territory and I thought I would be OK,” said Abraham.
